Could what sounds like a simple head massage potentially relieve your head pain?
A new brain-based therapy1 has shown to be 90 percent effective in patients, says Brian Prax, a chiropractor at the Prax Chiropractic and Holistic Pediatrics in Charlottesville, Va. Brain-based therapy is a hands-on treatment that could reduce migraine and headache by retraining the brain. It could also be useful for fibromyalgia.
The treatment is based on the practices of Fred Carrick, a chiropractic neurologist whose work has shown that stress can affect how information is sent to and processed by the brain. Brain-based therapy creates a consistent way to process information and reduces the underlying cause of the stressful information. The therapy also uses oxygen and vibration that help the growth of healthy brain tissue so that the weakened areas of the brain can be revitalized.
