Abbey D.: Chronic Daily Headache

Name: Abbey D.

Residence: New Hampshire

Conditions: Chronic Daily HA; migraines

Q: What is the most frustrating thing about your life?

A: I've had chronic daily headaches for the past 12 yrs (I turn 30 this year). I also suffer from migraines. Up until around the time I got my concussion 3 years ago I was able to just deal with the pain on my own. Since 2008 I've seen 2 neurologists & had tons of testing done. They haven't been able to find a cause of the daily headaches or migraines. The only time I have relief from the pain is usually when I'm asleep.

Q: What are you most thankful for?

A: My health. As bad as I feel, there are many others out there more worse off than I.

Q: How do you manage your condition?

A: Prescription medications....lots of them :(

Q: What's your favorite book?

A: Chocolate & Vicodin: My Quest for Relief from the Headache that Wouldn't Go Away by Jennette Fulda --- It was SO nice to know I wasn't alone. Her battle is eerily similar to mine. Doctors tell you that you're not the only person out there but no one I know truly knows what a headache REALLY feels like.

Q: What is your idea of happiness?

A: To be pain free!
